A TFT-LCD module is a display assembly that integrates a Thin-Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display (TFT-LCD) panel with components such as a backlight
and driver circuitry. As the dominant display technology today, it commands over 70% of the global display panel market.

Working Principle and Core Advantages
TFT (Thin-Film Transistor) technology is a type of active-matrix liquid crystal display technology. Its core feature is the inclusion of an independent
semiconductor switching device for each pixel, enabling independent control of individual pixels.
During operation, the TFT switch activates and applies voltage, causing the liquid crystal molecules to rotate. This modulates the amount of light
passing through from the backlight; the light then passes through color filters to mix and form a full-color image. Compared to passive-matrix
technology, it eliminates signal crosstalk, resulting in high-speed, high-brightness, and high-contrast display performance.
Structure and Composition
A complete TFT-LCD module consists of three main parts:
1. Liquid Crystal Panel: The core display layer, featuring a "sandwich" structure. It comprises a TFT substrate (bottom layer, containing the transistor
array that controls pixels) and a CF substrate (top layer, containing RGB color filters), with liquid crystal molecules encapsulated between them.
Polarizers are attached to both the inner and outer surfaces.
2. Backlight Unit: TFT-LCDs do not emit light on their own and require a backlight source; LEDs are currently the standard choice.
3. Module Circuitry: Consists of driver ICs (which control the driving current) and FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) boards (which connect the various
components).
Key Characteristics
* Advantages: Mature technology, realistic colors, relatively fast response times (approx. 80ms), and wide viewing angles (initially around 130 degrees,
with advanced technology reaching up to 178 degrees).
* Limitations: Compared to newer technologies like OLED, it suffers from higher power consumption and production costs.
Application Areas
TFT-LCD modules have a wide range of applications, including smartphones, tablets, televisions, laptops, automotive displays (instrument clusters and
center console screens), industrial control systems, medical equipment, and smart home devices.
